Best viewing time is from sunrise to noon. Sunrise occurs sometime between 5:00 am and 7:00 am (Mountain Time) depending upon the time of the year. In the Spring and Fall, some of the most magnificent sunsets you will ever see surround Pikes Peak. If you want to see the most spectacular lightning storms in the world, view the mountain between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm (Mountain Time) in July and August.
Because the Pikes Peak Cam(TM) faces due west, the picture is sometimes washed-out because of glare in the late afternoon, depending on the time of year. Also, if the picture appears white, then the peak is cloud-covered, the local area around the camera is covered in fog or we are experiencing a snow storm.
